This position will have two main areas of focus, conducting pricing and affinity studies : Pricing Studies The incumbent will be given full training and will be required to perform the following tasks to execute market commissioned pricing studies • Work with markets to guide them in the development of their pricing study requirements • Assist in the selection of field work agencies • Monitor the performance of field work agencies • Clean and format the field work data (field work agency will code the data) • Upload the field work data to the USA analyst • Analyse the pricing model created in the USA to identify pricing opportunities and threats • Write a power point presentation to explain the identified pricing options to the market commissioning the study Affinity Studies The incumbent will receive full training on the company's analysis tools to conduct this type of analysis The incumbent will receive transaction level sales data from retailers and will be required to do the following : • Clean the raw data and prepare it for uploading to the database in the USA • Using supplied analysis tools determine what natural clusters exist in the data • Identify the statistical affinities and other required data correlations • Develop models for retailers from this data that will assist them to improve their ranging, assortment and shelf / store layouts • Be involved in presentations to retailers The incumbent may also be required from time to time to complete ad-hoc small pieces of analysis for the revenue management and shopper research departments Some travel outside Hong Kong will be required by the incumbent Relationships • Job Title of person to whom incumbent reports: - Revenue Management and Customer Insights Director • Position(s) receiving functional guidance from incumbent: - Revenue managers in the market(s) running the pricing studies • Describe important working relationships with individuals in other departments, corporate units, committees, or outside companies, agencies, govt. authorities, etc : - Brief and supervise field work agencies to ensure field work is executed in the required manner - Liaise with market revenue managers to ensure the price modelling project(s) meets with their expectation - Work closely with the Support Centre analyst to provide a seamless flow of data from the field work to the SC analyst and development, validation and usage of the pricing model Scope • It is expected that between 12 and 18 pricing studies and 3 ¡V 6 affinity studies will be conducted during 2010 • This position covers all the company's brands and countries such as Asia, Australia, Middle East and Africa region Requirements • Degree qualified in a business discipline or a mathematical discipline • A strong understanding of Statistical, SPSS, MS Excel and MS Power Point is required. Skills in MS Access will be well regarded • Experience in managing a research agency field work team to deliver high quality data • Understanding of conjoint analysis as it relates to pricing elasticity • Ability to interpret conjoint pricing models and develop detailed plans of action for the market running the study • The position will not have any spending approval nor any budget nor any responsibility for sales volume • Ability to interpret conjoint pricing models and make recommendations for pricing changes
