The Airport Authority is inviting applications for the position of Executive Director, Commercial (ED Commercial). Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the ED Commercial is a key member of the senior management team that is responsible for the formulation of the major policies of the Airport Authority and its execution after obtaining approval of the Board to those policies.
As Head of Commercial Division, his/her main role is to formulate AA's strategies for its commercial operations with a view to realizing to the maximum extent possible the commercial opportunities of the Airport without compromising the strategic mission of the Airport Authority to maintain HKIA as a major regional aviation hub for the benefit of Hong Kong SAR as a whole.
In addition, the ED Commercial is expected to oversee the Authority's various strategic initiatives in China.
His/her key responsibilities include:
· overseeing the preparation of sound business cases to support major investment decisions
· ensuring aviation support services are duly provided at HKIA
· initiation of significant new commercial policies and strategies
· garnering effective cooperation and support between departments as well as with external parties in the planning and implementation of commercial projects
· ensuring necessary resources and support are available to achieve the corporate objectives
· responsible for revenue targets and budgetary control of the Division
· executing business plans of the commercial departments and making changes when necessary to cope with the changing business conditions
These responsibilities will demand motivating staff and instilling a quality culture in them to ensure the service standard and corporate objectives are met, and developing leadership quality and strategic capability of the management team as an ongoing staff development and succession planning initiative.
The successful candidate should have proven senior management experience in the commercial sector, with over 25 years of solid management experience with a sizable international company, amongst which at least 10 years in a senior managerial role. He/she should also possess strong business acumen and negotiation skills, and be effective in handling cross functional issues. Strong language skills in both oral and written English and Chinese are prerequisites, with proficiency in Putonghua a distinct advantage. China experience is desirable, and previous airport related experience is an advantage.
