Our client is a leading International Insurance Company which has demonstrated solid growth and excellent business performance across the globe, particularly in Asia. Consequent to the continuing growth and an increasing effort to strengthen the group's Accounting Process & Controls in the region, a newly created opportunity has arisen for an experienced Controller to join the Finance team, based in Hong Kong.
Reporting to the Regional Head of Accounting Process and Controls, you will be part of the Regional Finance function and your team will be dedicated to regional standard setting and review on financial policies and business process controls. You will drive change and improvement initiatives in financial reporting, systems and transformation. Part of your role will be to develop, review, interpret and communicate new accounting standards, ensuring conformance with IFRS and other regulatory standards. On the Controls and Financial Reporting aspects, you will provide the countries assigned with a framework for managing the process including target setting, standard templates, time table and review process. You will also assist on financial reporting for the assigned countries. This role will have an active involvement in regional projects within the Finance function, primarily focusing on developing best practice, operational finance issues and due diligence work on special assignments.
To qualify, individuals must possess:
- A university degree and a professional accounting qualification
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in a Controllership role, Financial Reporting, Internal Control, Operational Risk Management within Insurance or Big 4 focusing on Insurance sector
- Experience in setting Policies and Controls and Process Change Management would be highly relevant
- Insurance industry exposure
- Good understanding of IFRS, US and UK GAAP and Asian accounting standards
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English, additional Asian languages would be advantageous
